I got to get out to see our local rookery today! The dictionary definition of "rookery" is "a breeding colony of rooks, typically seen high in a clump of trees. I remember the first time I saw one from a distance, I thought it looked like something out of a Dr. Seuss book. It looked a little like something in the "Lorax" movie. It is amazing to see so many nests in one tree.

The biggest and easiest rookery in our area to see is the nesting site to over 100 Great Blue Herons. The rookery can be seen from I-25 near the MLK bypass. After fall is when you can see the rookery from any distanc...
