Fort Carson Dives Into Hydropower Electricity

City of Fountain Investing in Hydropower Electricity, too


Fort Carson leadership signed on to purchase water-powered electricity starting in May, increasing the installation's commitment to investing in sustainable, renewable energy sources.

The electricity is generated at the new 7.5-megawatt James W. Broderick Hydroelectric Power Facility at Pueblo Dam, constructed by the Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District (SECWCD).

Fort Carson is set to purchase 50 percent of the electricity generated by the dam through a 10-year contract with Colorado Springs Utilities who will also link the power generated from the plant to end users. The City...
