* Rural Area Meal Program

or RAMP, is for individuals age 60 and over who live in El Paso County. This program is for older adults who are not able to get to the nearest congregate meal site. This includes individuals needing assistance due to physical, emotional, or social impairment. Please leave a message at 719-520-6471 with your name and phone number; we will return your call.

* Transportation - (By Appointment Only)

For seniors 60+ who live in the Fountain Valley area. Transportation provided to medical appointments, shopping, personal business, to the senior center, special outings and other destinations in El Paso County. Call 520-6472 at least 48 hours in advance to make arrangements.

GOOD TIME DAY TRAVELERS TRIPS:

* The Day Travelers next meeting will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 9.

* Sat., July 13. Tour of the Penrose Heritage Museum with lunch at Red Robin. Tour is FREE. Bus fee is $10. Bus leaves St. Dominic’s at 9:45 a.m. *Registration ends July 8.

* Sat., July 27. Pueblo River walk with lunch at Brues Alehouse. Entrance is FREE. Bus fee is $16. Bus leaves St. Dominic’s at 9:30 a.m. *Registration ends July 22.

We have several Bingo events each month. Come down and join us! Events start at 1 p.m. Mondays, July 8 and 13 at 1 p.m. and Thursday, July 25 at 1 p.m.

Biscuits and Gravy

The senior center will be serving Biscuits and Gravy at 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 10. Come on down and get a nice hot breakfast & juice or coffee for $3.

July 4th Closure

Fountain Valley Senior Center will be closed Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. The center will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday.

Technology/Computer Class on Fridays

Our Technology/Computer class is now at 10 a.m. Fridays. If you have questions about your Smartphone, Ipad or computers come down on Friday mornings.

Volunteers Needed

* The Meals on Wheels program always has a need for volunteers to serve as back-up help with this vital service. Please call 520-6470 to get more information.

* Our Board of Directors is seeking an attorney to be a member. Please call 520-6470 for more information or to volunteer.

* Seeking volunteers for our Kitchen and for our Kittie Paster Thrift Shoppe and helping fold newsletters once a month. If interested please call 520-6470.

Thrift Shop Supports

Senior Center Activities

The Kittie Paster Thrift Shoppe is open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday, and is located at 5725 Southmoor Dr. next to the Fountain Valley Senior Center.

“Stop by and see our updated Thrift Shoppe. We have brand new and gently used items and more coming in all the time,” a spokesperson said. “We have a fifty-cent bargain room and sell $3 clothes bags daily.”

The thrift shop accept donations Monday through Friday from 10 a.m-2 p.m.

All proceeds help support the mission of the Fountain Valley Senior Center.
