Aug. 12 is Application Deadline for Parade Entries, Booths for 50th Annual Fountain Fall Festival


Monday, Aug. 12, is the deadline to submit applications for parade entries and booths at Metcalfe Park in conjunction with the 50th Annual Fountain Fall Festival, sponsored by the Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce. The festival is scheduled for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2.

Aug. 12 is also the deadline to submit nominations for Grand Marshal. The honored Grand Marshal leads the parade and is highlighted in this paper for all they have done for the community. All applications are available by contacting the chamber office at 382-3190. The office, located in Fountain City Hall, 116 S. Main St., is open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Mon, Wed., & Fri. They are also available on the chamber’s Facebook page (Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce.) No late entries will be accepted.

The theme of this year’s festival is “The Golden Harvest” to mark the Golden Anniversary of the festival. The Harvest part of the theme reflects how the festival used to serve as the kickoff to the annual area crop harvest.

The Fall Festival Weekend kicks off with the Fountain Fire Department’s annual Dinner and Dance from 5-9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, at Darin Anstine Firehouse 1, 212 N. Santa Fe Ave. Dinner is served from 5-7 p.m. and there is dancing from 7-9 p.m.

Monday’s activities begin at 7 a.m. with the Fountain-Fort Carson JROTC Pancake Breakfast at Aragon Elementary School.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. Parade lineup is along El Paso Street. It will proceed south on Main Street and then turn east on Ohio Ave.

Activities begin at Metcalfe Park immediately after the parade. There will be games, music, food, lots of vendors displaying their wares and informational booths.
