Korean War Armistice Day Commemoration is Saturday


The 66Th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice will be the focus of a special ceremony in Memorial Park in Colorado Springs this Saturday, July 27 at 10 a.m. Canadian Consul General Stephane Lessard will be the honored guest speaker. Sponsored by the Dutch Nelsen Chapter, Korean War Veterans Association of Colorado Springs, the ceremony will take place in front of the Korean War Veterans Monument in Memorial Park, 300 block of S. Union Boulevard.

 The program will include an ensemble from the 4th division and Fort Carson band playing patriotic music. The colors will be presented by the Widefield High School Junior ROTC detachment under the supervision of Major Mark Davis (U.S.M.C., Retired).

Wreaths will be presented in front of the Korean War Monument in honor of those who served in the war, those killed in action, and those who remain missing in action. Among the honored guests will be James Mcgibney, Honorary Consul Emeritus for the Republic of Korea, representatives of the Colorado Springs and El Paso County governments, representatives of the Air Force Academy, Canadian officials and leaders of Colorado Korean business and diplomatic community.

Dutch Nelsen Chapter President Stan Hamamoto announced that the public is encouraged to attend, particularly military and veterans of the community.
