District 8 Schools Start Tomorrow; School Zones will be Active

Students in Fountain School District 8 return to school Thursday and drivers are reminded school zones will be active. Fountain Police Department personnel, including Corporal Galen Steele, pictured above holding a LIDAR Gun, will be patrolling the school zones making sure drivers obey the school zone traffic laws. The speed limit signs now have flashing lights above and beneath the sign whereas in the past, there was just a flashing light above the sign. Police personnel hope this helps drivers take more notice of the speed limit sign.

It’s that time of year again to send our loved ones back to school and the Fountain Police Department would like to remind our citizens that school zones will be active again very soon!

Tomorrow (Thursday, Aug. 8) marks the beginning of another school year for District 8 students and our goal is to encourage everyone to pay close attention to their speed when travelling through town and especially, near the schools and neighborhood bus stops.
