The Heat Is On

Extreme weather is one of the leading causes of death in wildlife. Just like with humans, the youngest and the oldest are the most at risk. This week, the temperatures in parts of El Paso County have reached 100 degrees. The extreme heat can take a toll on the wild birds in our area. I want to go over some of the signs you will see with the birds on a very hot day. Some of these signs are the same signs you see if a bird is injured so it is important to know the difference. I have included some pictures of birds doing what they do to cool down.
