A Night of Excitement

In March, 1933 the talk of Fountain was not only the weather, but of what happened to Clare Peebles. The friendly young man discovered a pair robbing the Phillips 66 gas station, on Main across from where Aragon is now. He had a gun, and got the “drop” on the two robbers. He managed to grab one of the men, but the other escaped. Town Marshal Morris Askey and Jack Spicer took the man to the jail in Colorado Springs.
