Fountain Library Celebrating 40th Anniversary in September

The Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) and the Fountain Library are celebrating their presence in Fountain for the last 40 years hosting events to bring the community together and celebrate service, history, and the military in the Fountain community.

Fountain Community Event for

the Entire month of September

In conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Pikes Peak Library District opening the Fountain Library, there will be a pop-up exhibit displaying historic Fountain images in the library's meeting room.

Photographs illustrate ranching, farming, historic centers of community and ultimately the spirit of the people who worked and lived here. The pop-up exhibit asks community members to consider what makes Fountain distinctive and how we fit into this unique history. (The exhibit contains images from the collections of PPLD, Special Collections, and the Fountain Valley Historical Society and Museum.) The library will display these images Sept. 2-30.

Fountain History with City Manager Scott Trainor and Mayor Gabriel Ortega

The public is invited to visit the library for a Fountain history lesson with a Q & A session with Mayor Gabe Ortega and City Manager Scott Trainor on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 6-8 p.m.

Yard Games in the Parking Lot

Everyone is invited to the library for yard games in the parking lot Saturday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be will have something for everyone! Plus, a dance party for the little ones with cookie decorating and some light snacks will be available.

Historical Scavenger Hunt

The entire month of September people can learn more about your community as they explore downtown Fountain! Grab a card at the library with historic images of Fountain. Identify and write down the correct location for each photograph for the chance to win.  The prizes for correct answers will be a pair of tickets to the Cemetery Lantern Tour, and a copy of the Fountain history book as well as learning some valuable history. Drop off your card at the Fountain Library, 230 S. Main Street. All correct entries will be eligible for the final drawing to win a special prize.
