We are so very pleased the Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce selected our dear friend Connie Sanford as this year's Fall Festival Grand Marshal.

We have had the pleasure of working with Connie in a variety of capacities over the last 25 years and are just thrilled that this usual "behind the scenes" gal is having the spotlight shined brightly upon her to recognize her 25 years of service with the city and in our community.

I have had the pleasure of working with Connie on various community projects, but a few stand out as being nearest and dearest to my heart... the Downtown Events Association, which used to host free street dances and other activities throughout the year in historical downtown; the All-America City competition in which we traveled to Kansas City where we and about 40+ others in our delegation were awarded this prestigious title; assisting with getting the Fountain Valley Veterans Memorial built and hosting events at the site and the Trunk or Treat on Main Street. She has done so much more than this, as you will read in the story about her in this issue. Three Cheers for you Connie! Glad to see you honored for all you have done to make our community a better place!

On a different topic, I would be remiss if I didn't congratulate Ron Book and everyone at Book's Automotive on celebrating 80 years of serving our community. What a milestone this is and our city is blessed to have had Ron and his family doing so much here for so many years!! That's what "community" is all about!
