Due to growing population and enrollment, along with facing the complications of an aging building, Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 made the decision in the spring of 2019 to remodel and renovate Mesa Elementary School.

Construction work began the summer of 2019 with the demolition of four classrooms and office space on the west side of the old building. Modular classrooms were installed and will house two grade levels throughout the construction timeline.
