Fall Season/Creek Week Activities

September 18, 2019

Good day, I hope all are doing great.  I enjoyed a great week and got out to the mountains for the weekend with my sisters who came out for a visit.  I enjoyed a couple days of fishing (no luck catching, though) and nice hikes including a long one to a lovely cascade.  We truly live in a wonderful and beautiful state.

As to the rest of the month, we will begin the work on the county budget for 2020, and I look forward to the coming fall season and the annual Creek Week volunteer activities.

Come join us in taking care of our local waterways and parks with the Creek Week Kickoff on Saturday, September 28, at 8:30 am.  Kickoff the clean-up week at our Fountain Creek Nature Center!  Bring your community group to meet "Stan the Can" and help clean our waterways or remove invasive species.  Select any date, time and location during the week.  From the official website, "Creek Week began in 2014 as a way to encourage citizens to help remove litter and debris from our land and waters, raise awareness of watershed health, and to foster a sense of community.  Since then, Creek Week has grown into an annual event that continues to provide an opportunity for communities to give back, to enjoy the parks and trails they are cleaning, and to understand their place in the Fountain Creek Watershed."  For more information or to register go to www.fountaincreekweek.com.  I hope to see you at one of our clean-up locations.

Also, check out El Paso County›s newly posted job openings like Property Information Specialist, Assistant County Attorney – Human Services Division, IT Senior Project Manager, Financial Services Specialist & Program Assistant – Immunizations & Travel.  See a full list of our current openings and apply online at https://admin.elpasoco.com/human-resources-risk-management.

Finally, I wanted to thank everyone that has helped in any of our county or Fountain Valley volunteer committees, clubs or service organizations.  Whether with private or public organizations, your volunteer work in any capacity for our community is greatly appreciated.  God bless and enjoy a wonderful week.
