Fountain Electric Department Journeyman Lineman Joey Martinez and Apprentice Lineman Tanner Dowdell demonstrated climbing power poles, a regular part of their job, at the recent Community Night Out at Metcalfe Park that was hosted by the City of Fountain. City of Fountain's Electric Department celebrated 100 years of serving the community at a special celebration Saturday. See future issues of this paper for photos from that event.

The 6th Annual Fountain Community Night in the Park was held Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Metcalfe Park.

Over 600 people attended the event. There were representatives from 25 non-profit organizations at the park, sharing what their organizations have available to the community. Twelve city of Fountain departments were represented with their vehicles and/or table displays. Fountain Fire Department personnel grilled hot dogs and gave out water, compliments of the City of Fountain. The Fort Carson Mile High Band entertained the crowd.

Executive Assistant to the Fountain City Manager Connie Sanford said, "Many, many people commented on how awesome the band was. We experimented with a little different set up this year hoping to get the organizations located closer together. For the most part it seemed to work much better." She added, "Many of the participating organizations shared that they were pleased with the number of people who visited them. We hope this event continues to grow through the years."

City Manager Scott Trainor said, "This whole event is about connecting kids up with the neat equipment that they see around town but never get a chance to be in. After all, what child wouldn't want to sit in a fire engine, climb up in a backhoe, or turn the lights on in a police car? It's a fun family event and we appreciate all the support we get from the community!"
