Streets Committee to Host City Council Candidate Forum

Last updated 10/9/2019 at 4:54pm

The Fountain Colorado Streets Committee is hosting a Fountain Candidates Forum this Thursday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. at the Fountain Public Library, 230 S. Main Street in downtown Fountain.

“This is timely, as ballots are mailed and should be received in mailboxes on the weekend or early the following week,” Ken Lippincott said.

He explained citizens will have three opportunities to hear from the candidates at the forum.

Informal discussion will begin at 6 p.m., while the formal program begins at 6:30 p.m. with a short presentation from members of the Fountain Colorado Streets Committee, who are hosting the event.

“What follows should be both serious and sometimes humorous as each candidate will have submitted a question for each of the other candidates to answer within three minutes, which is the time limit citizens have to speak before council,” he explained. “The candidates will have received these questions in advance of the forum, so they can prepare their responses in advance.”

An open question/answer period with the public will conclude the formal agenda.  After the agenda individuals and small groups will be able to meet with candidates of their choice at designated locations in the library’s meeting room.  All candidates have been asked to provide take home materials for the public.
