Council decides budget increases, carport penalties

The Fountain City Council voted on Nov. 12 to implement a formal notice system for carports that continue to be out of compliance after new regulations were adopted earlier this year.

City Attorney Troy Johnson said all unpermitted carports that had been constructed prior to the city regulations passing on June 11 were given nine months – until March 11, 2020 – to become compliant before further action would be taken. However, the city had not decided what exactly that action might be until this last week.
