Response to veterans bills, impeachment

November 20, 2019

Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement after the passage of nine bills that will benefit America's veterans:

"I was pleased to vote for these important bills and will continue to urge my fellow Members of Congress to enhance and refine the services we provide our brave veterans. These bills will improve veterans' lives by protecting GI Bill benefits from predatory institutions, improving healthcare and medical services, and making the VA benefit process more transparent. This legislation will also improve the due process rights of veterans when recovering overpayments made by the VA, and allow veterans who are in the appellate process the option to appear by voice and video, reducing travel burdens. I will continue working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure our veterans have all the benefits they have earned in service to their grateful nation."

The following nine bills passed the House of Representatives on Nov. 12:

• H.R. 4625, Protect the G.I. Bill Act

• H.R. 4477, Reducing High Risk to Veterans and Veterans Services Act

• H.R. 4771, VA Tele-Hearing Modernization Act

• H.R. 4360, V.A. Overpayment Accountability Act

• H.R. 4356, Protecting Families of Fallen Servicemembers Act

• H.R. 4162, G.I. Planning Act of 2019

• H.R. 3996, VA Design-Build Construction Enhancement Act of 2019

• H.R. 1424, Fallen Warrior Battlefield Cross Memorial Act

• H.R. 3224, Deborah Sampson Act

Congressman Lamborn released the following statement in response to last week's House Intelligence Committee's impeachment hearings:

"Chairman Schiff promised the American people they would have the opportunity to hear the testimony of the "so-called whistleblower" but has denied access to him testifying. Still, we continue to hear from witnesses who seem to have 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th hand knowledge, have never met President Trump, and were not a party to the phone calls between the President and Zelensky." None of the Democrat's witnesses' testimonies have compelled me to believe that President Trump has committed any impeachable offenses. House Democrats are doing everything in their power to impeach President Trump before the 2020 election. Democrats continue to neglect the will of the people with their impeachment sham that ignores the facts. This process has been nothing short of a circus. Congress should instead be focusing on the issues that matter to the American people."
