Wildlife rehabilitation grants help hurt animals statewide

Raptors Stormy and Blondie at North Park Wildlife Rehabilitation in Walden benefited from last year's CPW Wildlife Rehabilitation Grants.

Nine recipients of Colorado Parks and Wildlife's second annual Wildlife Rehabilitation Grants have been announced. The grants are offered to support wildlife rehabilitation efforts across the state.

"We had more than $59,000 in funding requests but only $19,500 in funding available," said CPW Grants Administrator Jim Guthrie. "There's a big need out there. A lot of Colorado rehabbers run on shoestring budgets. They put in tremendous personal effort for the love of helping animals recover from accidents or injury."
