Gateway Prayer Garden progressing

A community prayer garden cleared another hurdle in its development recently, as the Fountain City Council approved the first reading of a rezoning ordinance.

The 32-acre site along Bandley Drive near I-25 and the KOA Campground is the home of the Gateway Prayer Garden. The land was donated by Ted and Audrey Beckett, and the garden is a collaborative effort among many individuals and churches in the area.

However, "a place of worship" is not a permitted or conditional use within the site's current zoning designation, Regional Commercial, so developers sought the change to Village Center....
