Five local high school teams advanced to the state basketball playoffs which began last night (Tues., Feb. 25.)
CLASS 4A
GIRLS
MESA RIDGE, WIDEFIELD PLAYED LAST NIGHT
Mesa Ridge and Widefield played first-round games last night.
The Mesa Ridge Lady Grizzlies, 13-9, hosted Fort Morgan, 7-16. The winner of that game plays at Montrose, 18-5, Friday in a second-round game.
The Widefield Lady Glads, 9-14, meanwhile, played at Lewis-Palmer, 14-9. The winner of that game plays at Glenwood Springs, 20-3, Friday.
Scores were unavailable at press time.
BOYS
The Widefield Glads, 15-8, host Eagle Valley, 6-15, at 6 p.m. tonight (Wed., Feb. 26.) The winner plays at Conifer, 18-5, Saturday.
CLASS 5A
FOUNTAIN-FORT BOYS, GIRLS HOST PLAYOFF GAMES
The Fountain-Fort Carson boys, 13-10, host Aurora Central, 16-7, at 7 p.m. tonight at the Dean Fleischauer Activities Center in a first-round game. The winner of that game plays at Fairview (Boulder), 20-3, Saturday.
The Lady Trojans, 20-2, host the winner of last night’s game between Columbine, 13-10, and Rocky Mountain, 10-13, at 7 p.m. Friday at the DFAC in a second-round game.
TICKET PRICES
Tickets for both the Widefield and Fountain-Fort Carson games are organized as follows: General admission tickets for adults are $8. Tickets for students in grades K-12 are $6 (senior citizens can get into the Fountain-Fort Carson game for $6 as well). Children under four get in for free.
