School officials made a surprise presentation at a Fountain school to recognize 12-year-old Arturo Hernandez as a 911 "hero."

On Dec. 12, 2019, a man broke into Arturo's house in the middle of the night. Arturo woke to his mother's scream when she discovered the intruder in their home. Arturo's mother distracted the man, leading him away from Arturo and his brother. Knowing the intruder might hear him if he called 911, Arturo did the next best thing: he sent a text message to 911 requesting help.
