Wildlife advocates allege owl poisoning

This male burrowing owl was photographed at the corner of Jimmy Camp and Link roads in Fountain on March 9.

Wildlife advocates are petitioning authorities to investigate an alleged incident at a vacant lot on the corner of Jimmy Camp Road and Link Road. The advocates, led by Doug Harling, claim that a USDA wildlife biologist killed two burrowing owls while placing pesticide in the lot. Burrowing owls are a protected species, and had been found living in the lot in thesummer of 2019.
