Assistance for small businesses

March 25, 2020

Good morning, I pray all are well today. I want to thank everyone for your patience as we continue to work diligently for our residents during this period of precaution because of COVID-19. This week I'd like to highlight our Pikes Peak Small Business Development Center (see link below) which is working to assist those small businesses who have been effected by the State restrictions. Our county SBDC is working with the Office of Economic Development and other state and federal agencies to inform employers with the new small business response resources available to them. And, for employees who have been effected by closures I encourage you to visit our El Paso County Workforce Center website or our DHS website below for additional assistance and resource information. We will continue to monitor and update everyone with ongoing efforts to support our community.

I also want to mention that even during the recommended period of social distancing that there is still an opportunity to safely enjoy county parks and open spaces that are sufficiently large so social distancing can still be maintained for everyone's health.

After responding to several resident inquiries in the morning, I did take some time this Saturday afternoon to check out our Fountain Creek Regional Trail behind Willow Springs Ponds and the Nature Center. Individuals were out exercising or walking their dogs, and several families were fishing while still following public health recommendations of social distancing.

Below are the links for the SBDC and additional county services, or go to for all county office and departments. God bless, everyone.
