As reported in last week’s edition, the CHSAA has announced that all spring sports are being postponed until April 18.
This decision not only affects state tournaments (such as the recently canceled state basketball games) but also the upcoming seasons for baseball, track & field and soccer. Mesa Ridge High School Baseball Head Coach John Bishop said that as far as he knows, baseball is postponed at least until April 6.
Fountain-Fort Carson Athletics Director Jared Felice confirmed this change.
“Per the CHSAA’s decision, all spring sports have been postponed until April 18,” he said..”I believe we will learn more as that date draws near.”
As of press time, Mesa Ridge, Widefield and Fountain-Fort Carson still have varsity baseball games scheduled for after April 18. The Mesa Ridge Grizzlies are scheduled to play a league game at Sierra on Tuesday, April 21. The Widefield Gladiators are scheduled to play a non-league at Chatfield High School on Monday, April 20. The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans are scheduled to host Doherty in a league game on Tuesday, April 21. These schedules may change in the near future.
