Fountain Valley Senior Center remains closed until further notice, but some meal and transportation services will continue on an as-needed basis.
Executive Director Jolene Hausman released this statement on Monday:
“Dear Community Members,
“We at Fountain Valley Senior Center are humbled by your offers of donations. We are so grateful to live in and serve a community where the citizens think of our senior citizens during this trying time. Here at FVSC we are working to ensure seniors still have access to their medical appointments and prescription medications. We are also working to ensure seniors have meals daily and access to food shopping when needed. We are delivering meals daily to those seniors without transportation that used to come to the center to eat. For those with transportation we have set up a ‘drive-thru’ to hand out meals daily.
“We have received numerous calls asking about donations. We are accepting donations of nonperishable food, toilet paper, and paper goods. The items will be distributed weekly with food pickups/deliveries. To minimize staff exposure, we request that you drop off the donated items at the front door and staff will bring them into the building. We are also accepting financial donations as our costs are increasing while reimbursable services are declining.
“Thank you for your continued support of the Fountain Valley Senior Center. It takes a village, and together we can ensure our most vulnerable population is well taken care of during this pandemic.”
