A motorcyclist was killed Sunday night on Mesa Ridge Parkway.

The Fountain Police Department (FPD) was notified of a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in the area of Mesa Ridge Parkway (Hwy. 16) and Hwy. 85 just before 11 p.m. Officers believe the adult male motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Hwy. 16 when he failed to negotiate the curve east of Bandley Drive, striking the right hand guardrail and ejecting the driver, who succumbed to his injuries on scene. Early indications are that speed and alcohol may have been a factor in this crash.

Anyone with information, or who is a witness to this incident, is asked to call the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center at (719) 390-5555; or if you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (719) 634 STOP (7867) or 1-800-222-8477.

Hwy. 16 was closed for approximately three hours before re-opening.
