Members of Fountain's Public Safety departments recently held a parade of police and fire vehicles through the community, which they called "Operation Rolling Thunder." The event, coordinated by Public Safety Information Officer Lisa Schneider and Lt. Matt Racine, took place in various neighborhoods over several days and was designed to show appreciation to residents for hanging in there during the COVID-19 shutdown these last several weeks.

"Our citizens have been so supportive of all our first responders, and we wanted to give back to them in a safe and fun way," Schneider said.

With lights flashing and sirens going, the caravan certainly brought joy to many children watching along sidewalks or from their front porches.

Police Chief Chris Heberer said he also wanted to let other essential employees - such as doctors, nurses, grocery store workers, and media - know the city is grateful for their efforts.

"I have a new-found appreciation for grocery store workers," he said.
