Army Special Ops Aviation Command conducts noise-generating exercises

Last updated 5/7/2020 at 3:58pm

The Special Operations Aviation Training Battalion, U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command, will begin noise-generating training May 11 through May 20 throughout the Front Range, northern and southern Colorado regions.

During this period increased noise and dust should be expected, including in the evenings and throughout the night due to engaged training.

Officials say the training is necessary to qualify rated student pilots and non-rated crew members in multi-mode radar, mountain and desert environments, so the unit is prepared for any potential mission they may be called upon to support around the globe.

“Fort Carson is dedicated to being good neighbors, and will continue to inform the public about training events that may affect surrounding communities,” a spokesperson said. “We will continue to listen to our community and work through any noise issues that may arise. We strive to balance our training requirements with respecting the communities throughout the State of Colorado.”

Noise complaints should be directed to the Fort Carson Public Affairs Office at (719) 526-9849.
