COVID-19 complicates camping

Most cabins, such as the Ponderosa model at Mueller State Park,have been closed during the COVID-19 shutdowns.

As it gets closer to summer, many people are wondering whether they will be able to do their usual vacation activities. Social distancing and masks make amusement parks and movie theaters risky or at least awkward, which leaves another classic summer option: camping.

But COVID-19 has left many campgrounds in an interesting spot. Several organizations oversee campgrounds in Colorado: the National Park Service (NPS) for national parks and trails, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) for state parks and trails, and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for public land.
