Police Explorers program teaches students law enforcement, life skills

Young people interested in what the police do have an opportunity to learn about it first-hand. In 2015, the Fountain Police Department (FPD) started the Police Explorers program, a chance for students to study alongside law enforcement officers. The program is for students between 14 and 21 years old, and they can send in applications throughout the year.

The Police Explorer works most closely with Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8, but they accept applicants from other districts too. According to city's website, "The purpose is to provide experiences which help young people mature an...
