Illegal pot grow investigation ongoing in Lorson Ranch

Last updated 7/29/2020 at 12:47pm

On July 22, residents on Seawolf Drive and Thunderbolt Trail in Lorson Ranch were startled when federal agents, a SWAT team and members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Security Fire Department came through their area. One resident said she saw some officers speaking to other residents before they moved down the block.

When asked for comment, the El Paso County Sherriff’s Office said they were assisting the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) with an operation.

Randolph Ladd, special agent in charge of media inquiries for the DEA’s Denver Division (which serves this region), said he spoke to the agents in charge of the Colorado Springs and surrounding area for details. They explained to Ladd that this event was part of an ongoing investigation involving “illegal marijuana residential cultivations,” and could not give any more details yet.

“The investigation is ongoing, so I can’t discuss if anyone was arrested or if any search warrants were issued,” Ladd said.
