Construction of the Amazon faciility near the Colorado Springs Airport can be seen clearly from Grinnell Boulevard and Goldfield Drive in Security, along the Painted Sky at Waterview and new Springs at Waterview subdivisions.

Question: What school district gets all of the property tax revenue for the new Amazon building on Powers? Just curious. That is a lot of money.

Answer: The short answer is that Widefield School District 3 will benefit, although somewhat indirectly. Will it see loads of new money coming in to its offices? Probably not, but the revenue will help.

The site of Amazon's new distribution center, just north of the intersection of Grinnell Avenue and Powers Boulevard, currently is listed as "exempt" under its tax status on the El Paso County Assessor's property records web page. That's not the who...
