It's August, and here on the front range that means it's time to harvest garlic. As many of you know, I'm married to an Italian, and garlic is a mainstay in my kitchen. Of course, being an herbalist and a gardener, the thought of buying garlic at the store, well, it's practically blasphemy! So every fall, I plant a nice crop and then come late July, early August, I'm ready to harvest.
Garlic is easy to grow here, but harvest is a bit tricky and there is a right way and a wrong way as well as a right time and a wrong time to harvest garlic properly.
