Nature Center hosts 'Happy at Home' event

In light of COVID-related programming cancellations and losses, the Friends of El Paso County Nature Centers have decided to do something a little different than their usual fundraiser. This year, they will host a “Happy at Home” 2020 Happy Trails event on Friday, Aug. 21. Participants will have a boxed dinner and drinks delivered to their home between 3-6 p.m. The boxed dinner serves 2-4 people and includes a S’Mores Package and Buffalo Gals Campfire Package. The campfire package consists of:

• Whole tri tip sirloin (two-pound average)

• Barbeque Sauce

• House tossed salad w/ vinaigrette

• Calico beans

• Garlic butter

• Baguette

The s’mores package will include marshmallows, graham crackers, a Hershey bar and Reese’s. The boxed dinner also includes the option of a bottle of Oberon Napa County Cabernet Sauvignon from Sovereignty Wines. Heating instructions will be provided for all packages. The boxed dinner’s total cost is $150.

After the boxed dinners arrive, an interactive zoom and inspiration video will start at 6:30 p.m. Participants can watch the video at other times to fit their schedule. Proceeds from this event will benefit the environmental education endeavors of Bear Creek & Fountain Creek Nature Centers.
