Jr. Bird Club-Bluestem Prairie Open Space

Saturday, August 22, 8–11 a.m.

Nature lovers ages 8-17, join us to enhance your bird ID skills. We’ll explore a new ecosystem – the prairie – and the unique birds there. Don’t forget a hat, sunscreen and water! $5 per meeting; $25 for 6 meetings.

Monarch Magic

Saturday, August 29, 10–11:30 a.m.

Discover the magical mystery of the monarch migration to Mexico. See an indoor presentation, make a craft, search for caterpillars and adults to tag and release for research. $4 per member, $5/nonmember.

Nature Adventures: Spinning Spiders

Thursday, September 3, 9–10:30 a.m.

Children ages 3-6, with an adult, will enjoy puppet shows or stories, crafts, hands-on activities, and discovery time on the trail. $3 per person including siblings and adults. Limit 10 participants.

2s & 3s Outdoors: Colorful Caterpillars

Thursday, September 10, 9–10:15 a.m.

Explore nature with your 2 or 3 year-old through interactive activities, a story, and a short hike. $3 per person including siblings and adults. Prepaid registration required. Limit 10 participants.

Homeschool Fridays: Awesome Arthropods

Friday, September 11, 2–4 p.m.

Not “bugs”—arthropods! Learn about insects, spiders, and their relatives with a puppet show, arthropod activity, and guided hike to catch arthropods. Geared towards grades K-2. $4 per person. Limit 10 participants. Prepaid registration required. Participants can join with other homeschool groups.

Fall Bird Count

Saturday, September 12, 7:30–10:30 a.m.

Help record the bird species and numbers found in Fountain Creek Regional Park during fall migration. Count will be entirely outdoors. $5/person donation.

Sunset Photography Hike with Mike Pach

Saturday, September 12, 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m.

Colorado Springs photographer Mike Pach of 3 Peaks Photography and Design will guide this evening photography workshop ending at sunset. Moderate hiking. Bring camera with a wide variety of lenses and a tripod/monopod if you have one. All skill levels. $20 per person. Prepaid registration required. Space is limited.

Girl Scout Badge Event

Saturday, September 19, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Daisies, Brownies and Juniors can register for fun sessions to meet badge requirements for these badges:

9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Daisies - Buddy Camper

9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Brownies - Cabin Camper

1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Brownies - Outdoor Adventurer

1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Juniors - Eco Camper

$5 per badge activity. Prepaid registration required. Programs will be outdoors. Limit of 15 per session.

Creek Week Kickoff

Saturday, September 26, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Kickoff this clean up at Fountain Creek Nature Center! Bring your friends, family, or community group to meet “Stan the Can” and clean up waterways or remove invasive species. Register for this event and other cleanups for the week at or call 719-520-6745.
