Water line work underway in downtown Fountain

At left, numerous signs prohibiting parking and rerouting traffic in the construction zone are in place on Walnut Street and other roads in the area.

In partnership with the City of Fountain, the U.S. Air Force through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its subcontractor, are preparing to install a new 8-inch water main pipeline underneath several streets in downtown Fountain. This main will connect an existing city-owned well (located near the Fountain library) to the site of a new groundwater treatment facility planned for construction at Aga Park.

The new treatment facility will eventually connect to Fountain's four municipal wells, where ion-exchange technology will be used to remove the Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS)...
