Fall high school football starting after all?

Last updated 9/17/2020 at 3:31pm

The CHSAA Board of Directors voted Wednesday to approve variances allowing high schools to play field hockey, football and sideline spirit. Schools can play these sports in Season A (Fall) or Season C (Spring). Athletic directors at local schools are still making plans, but Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 has confirmed it’s moving forward with plans for fall football.

“Our coaches and student-athletes have worked hard through the offseason to get the opportunity to play, and they will be ready upon a formal declaration of the new start date for Season A,” FFC8 Athletic Director Jared Felice said.

We are awaiting word from Widefield School District 3 on how it plans to proceed, and we hope to have many more details in the coming days. The news has some football players and parents excited, but others note that marching band and other activities also have been sidelined and still don't have any new information.
