Back in 1950, an event took place to mark the passing of one of the area's most historic citizens. Her name was Mrs. Irene Benedict, and she is probably unknown to all of you. Today I would like to share with you some of this lady's interesting story.
She was born in Fountain in August 1861. She wasn't born in a hospital, or even a farm house. No, Irene was born in a covered wagon!
