Name: Longinos Gonzalez Jr.

Brief work history/related experience/ military service? I am an Air Force Academy graduate who served our country for 20 years as an AF intelligence officer, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2012. I was a middle school science teacher with HSD2 prior to being elected County Commissioner 4 years ago.

Family info.: Single, no family.

How long have you lived in your district? I returned to Colorado Springs in 2012 after retiring from the AF and have lived in the district for 8 years.

Other related experience/involvement? I am the Vice-Chair of the Board of County Commissioners, a member of the Colorado Board of Veterans Affairs, Chair of the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority, and on the County Board of Health, among other committees. I volunteer with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), serving on their board of directors, and am a lector and volunteer Sunday school teacher at my church. I regularly volunteer as a speaker at local schools and clubs, discussing civics or heritage.

What issues do you feel are most important to the citizens in your district right now? And what would be your approach in dealing with them? Jobs and economic recovery from COVID have become a great concern for residents. I have been working diligently to support our residents return to work and helping our small businesses recover. I've voted to utilize CARES Act funds on grants and workforce center programs to aid in this recovery, reopen our businesses and schools and support our families geting back to work. Additionally, I will continue to prioritize our infrastructure and roads, public safety and water issues as these continue to be the areas most highlighted to me by residents. I continue to work with the Air Force to address the PFOS/PFOA contamination of our aquifer, and will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure the Department of Defense properly funds the clean-up.

Please sum up "who you are" to the voters in a brief comment, and why you are running? I am a candidate who believes in integrity and values, that cares about our community and who works to ensure your concerns are addressed. I am a conservative that believes in transparent and limited government that listens to its residents and works for the people. I am running because I believe in giving back to our community and have the relevant experience and background (military, business, teaching, government) to best represent the needs of our wonderful region.
