Fountain's Duckwood Road Improvements Project receives award

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Duckwood Road/Railroad Crossing was held Sept. 26, 2019, at the Duckwood Roundabout. City representatives who participated in the ceremony included, from the left, Water Department Management Assistant Taletha Mosse, City Manager Scott Trainor, City Councilmembers Sharon Thompson, Sam Gieck, Greg Lauer and Richard Applegate, Mayor Gabe Ortega, Fountain Roadway Focus Group representatives Bryan Johnson and Jennifer Herzberg, and Executive Assistant Lexi Lee.

Recently the city of Fountain was selected for the Engineering News Record (ENR) 2020 Best Project in the Mountain States Region in the Highway/Bridge category for the U.S. Hwy. 85/Duckwood Road Improvements Project. The entry was submitted by the construction management team, Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers and Architects; the construction was performed by Kiewit Corporation; and the design was completed by Drexel, Barrell & Co.
