Programs require pre-paid registration. Due to COVID-19, programs are subject to cancellation. Call the Nature Center or check website for current status. Masks or cloth face coverings required.

Traveling Nature Center

Saturday, October 17, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Fountain Creek Nature Center staff will set up in Widefield Community Park for some habitat connections. Come visit and discover what makes the Fountain Valley so important. FREE!

Jack-o-Lantern Carving Party

Saturday, October 24, hourly sessions from 9, 10, 11 a.m. & 1, 2 p.m.

Carve with us and take your jack-o-lantern home! Nature Center provides hollowed-out pumpkins, carving tools, unique patterns and other fun decorative elements. Limit of six family groups per session. $5 per pumpkin. Prepaid registration required. Program will be outdoors.

Spooky Tales Along the Trail

Saturday, October 31, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Thrill and chill along the nature trail as the Mitchell High School Advanced Acting Class regales us with scary stories. It’s sure to send shivers up your spine and make your hair stand on end. Appropriate for 7 years and up. $5/person. Prepaid registration required. Time slots for 10 people every 15 minutes.

Nature Adventures: Eco Engineers

Thursdays, November 5 & 19, 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Children ages 3-6, with an adult, will enjoy puppet shows or stories, crafts, hands-on activities and discovery time on the trail. $3 per person including siblings and adults. Prepaid registration required. Limit 15 participants.

2s & 3s Outdoors: Whose Clues?

Thursday, November 12, 9 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.

Explore nature with your 2 or 3 year-old through interactive activities, a story and a short hike. $3 per person including siblings and adults. Prepaid registration required. Limit 15 participants.

Nature’s Classroom: Walk the Wetlands

Wednesdays, November 4, 18, & 25, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Students will use their senses to explore our wetland environment and consider the adaptations of the plants and animals seen along the way. Program consists of introductory puppet show, animal adaptations inquiry activity, Exhibit Room discovery and guided hike. Geared towards grades Prek-2. $4 per person. Prepaid registration required. Limit 15 participants.

Nature’s Classroom: Fountain Creek History is Colorado History

Fridays, November 6, 13, & 20, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Combining Colorado history and science, students discover that Fountain Creek is a hero as they hike through five ecosystems and explore how humans affect the environment. Includes a human timeline, exhibit exploration and mapping. Geared towards grades 4-6. $4 per person. Prepaid registration required. Limit 15 participants.
