A century of electricity

Last week the city of Fountain unveiled a new statue and monument dedicated to all the electric linemen — past, present and future — who serve with Fountain Utilities. The city commissioned artist Sheldon Anthony Roberts to complete the statue, and the work was funded by donations. The dedication of the statue and monument, located at the center of the roundabout on Duckwood Road just east of Hwy. 85/87, was part of the city’s celebration of Public Power Week (Oct. 4-10), which was observed by the more than 2,000 community-powered, not-for-profit, electric utilities that collectively...
