Another Road Plan

The road I'm going to talk about today is actually well-known to all of us. The story I'm telling today is how it upset our community! After World War II the country was growing as well as traveling. Our area had long been a center for visitors, but the new idea for travel was causing problems for many of the communities in the west. There were four-lane highways in the east starting in the 1930s, but here, we were still getting used to paved streets.

Denver was just starting to talk about what was called "the Valley Highway" which would mainly help truck traffic get through town and avoid...
