It's October and things in the garden are slowly coming to a close. We got a little taste of winter last month as an unexpected snowstorm swept across the Front Range. Most people here in Fountain didn't get a lot of snow, but it was enough to cool things down and clean the smoky air.

There are things to do every month in the garden, and October is the month that I put the beds to sleep for the winter and concentrate on preserving the harvest.
