City outlines use of federal CARES funds

The city of Fountain has provided the breakdown of how it is spending its $2.4 million share of federal COVID-19 relief funds. Although it has until the end of the year to spend the money, the allocations had to be made by the end of September.
Much of the money went towards pay for first responders, telework equipment to allow city staff to conduct business from home, cleaning and disinfecting products and small business assistance grants. About $1.5 million has already been spent, with another roughly $900,000 to be expended over the remainder of 2020.
