2020 Holiday Happenings in Fountain
Last updated 10/21/2020 at 10am
An old tradition in a new way seems to be the theme this year for many events in our lives and community. With that in mind, I hope you will be able to join us as we celebrate these fall events in our city.
Fountain Fright Night is Oct. 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Metcalfe Park. This fun-filled evening is a great time to bring your children to the park, pick up a bag of candy and enjoy the scenes created by businesses in a fun driving a loop around the park. Holiday themed music will be playing on a special radio station you can tune into while enjoying the sights! If you are a business owner or nonprofit in Fountain, we still need your help to be display booths for the evening. Please contact Lexi at (719) 322-2021 to get signed up.
Veterans Day is Nov. 11. Please watch the tribute that will be posted that day on the City website and Facebook page. In addition, take time as a small group to stop by the Mayor's Park to pay respects to those who have served our nation through military service. No formal program will be at the wall.
Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will be Nov. 20, 6 p.m., at City Hall. Santa Claus will be in attendance to welcome us from the balcony, and there will be a special drop box to collect letters to Santa. We are beginning a new tradition of having a live tree that will be lit and then planted in the city later. The ceremony will be broadcast on a radio station, so if you want to stay in your car to attend or socially distance in the courtyard, you will be able to be a part of the ceremony.
The tree at Mayor's Park will still be lit, and we encourage you to go when it isn't crowded and continue your tradition of photos by that beautiful tree. I've seen many photos online of you, your friends and family over the years enjoying this tree, and we hope to see that tradition continue!
Thanks for a few minutes of your time, and I hope to see you at some of these events. Please stop by and say hello!
