Soldier discusses roots in Belize

Army Sgt. 1st Class Denise Ronneburg, the supply sergeant for the 100th Missile Defense Brigade, stands for a photo outside the 100th Missile Defense Brigade headquarters in Colorado Springs on Sept. 15. Ronneburg hails from Orange Walk Town, Belize, and is part of a growing Hispanic population within the Army.

A Google search of Orange Walk, Belize, reveals a vibrant, colorful town with a population of more than 13,000. Once the site of the large Mayan Empire, Lamanai, Orange Walk is situated in northwestern Belize, a country in Central America nestled along the southwestern coast of the Yucatán Peninsula. The area's main inhabitants are mestizos, people of mixed European and indigenous descent.
