Sheriff's Office experiences employee COVID-19 outbreak

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has had eight employees test positive for COVID-19 within the past three weeks. These employees are a combination of sworn and civilian staff who have varying assignments across the organization. Assignments include Court and Transport, Floor Security, Patrol, Tactical Support Unit and the Communications Center. Two deputies work at the courthouse and are assigned to the Court and Transport Section, which constitutes an outbreak.

According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, an outbreak is defined as two or more confirmed cases...
