Alice Marie Chambers passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 7, 2020, following a brief, but valiant, fight with the COVID-19 virus.

Mrs. Chambers was born on September 9, 1933, in Bend, Oregon, to Roy and Opal Cook and was raised in Sweet Home, Oregon, where she graduated from high school in 1951. They married on March 21, 1953, moved to Colorado in March of 1954 and eventually settled in Security.

After substitute teaching in Widefield School District #3 and working as a teacher's aide in the Home Economics Department at Watson Junior High School, Mrs. Chambers returned to college at, what was then known as, The University of Southern Colorado, and eventually earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education with a minor in Home Economics at the University of Northern Colorado in December 1972. Mrs. Chambers taught Home Economics at Harrison High School and Carmel Middle School for several years. She earned a Master's Degree in Educational Counseling in 1980 from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS). Mrs. Chambers then began her career as a guidance counselor at Carmel where she worked until her retirement in May 1993.

Known as "Grandma Cookies" to some of her grandchildren, she loved to bake cookies with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she loved the many dogs, who adopted her over the years, but most of all, she loved her family unconditionally – they always knew she would welcome them home with open arms.

Mrs. Chambers is survived by her three sons: Stephen and Randy of Security, and Kevin of Castle Rock; a daughter, Carolyn Dunlap of Wesley Chapel, Fla .; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
