REALLY?? Another gas station/convenience store is being built on the south corner of Mesa Ridge Parkway and Syracuse Street. At least it is not directly across the street from Mesa Ridge High School. Is there a shortage of these? The Economic Development Department needs to take inventory. Between Exit 128 and Academy Boulevard interchange, there are four gas stations/convenience stores and one on the corner of Main in Security. On Fountain Mesa to I-25 there are five gas station/convenience stores and a grocery store. There is also a convenience store on the south end of Fountain Mesa. There are four Family Dollar, Dollar General, Dollar Tree businesses in this same area.
There are four tire stores, three car washes, seven liquor stores (essential during this time!), two donut shops with more donuts available at convenience stores and seven locations for pizza. We have every fast food drive-through except Captain D's.
How about continuing to get a real grocery store within walking distance of the residents in the downtown area of Fountain? Here are ideas for businesses: a child care center, a senior living facility, replace bowling alley, drive-in theater that we had years ago, a supervised arcade for youth and adults, miniature golf course, develop a 9-18 hole golf course, crafts store, religious bookstore, specialty steak restaurant, a large-chain grocery store near Duckwood Road. I'm sure there are more ideas for businesses that we do not have. In the land space available in Fountain is a need for health enhancement.
