Shirley Brondum, a 49-year resident of Widefield, passed away December 9, 2020, after years of serious illnesses. She was born in Ipswich, England, the daughter of Frederick Willian Smith and Elizabeth Louise Smith. Her siblings are Maureen Prins (deceased) of Sanborn, Iowa, and Paul Frederick Smith and John Barry Smith, both residing in Ipswich, England.

Shirley grew up in England during World War II, and she reminisced about both the bad and good times of that six-year span. It formed her strong character.

Shirley was married to Ronald Brondum, and the couple celebrated their 65-year wedding anniversary September 24, 2020.

She worked for a number of years during the 80s at Widefield Elementary School, and she dearly loved the children.

Shirley loved knitting, reading, water aerobics and playing poker slots in Cripple Creek.

A family viewing at Dove-Witt Funeral Home took place December 16, 2020.

An extensive obituary has been published in the Gazette.
